Dual-panel glass is the key to a replacement window’s energy efficiency and long-term performance. At Renewal by Andersen®, we are proud to offer replacement windows with dual-panel glass packages that take energy efficiency to the next level. Let us discuss how our glass packages result in optimum energy savings.
Why Choose Dual-Panel Glass?
Glass is inherently conductive. A single glass panel installed between two rooms would easily conduct heat into the room with the lower temperature. This makes traditional single-panel windows a heating problem. Imagine your indoor space continuously losing heat during winter, with your heating system needing more energy to make up for the heat loss. Similarly, your air conditioning system would be working harder during summer to compensate for the heat gain.
Today’s insulation materials, like fiberglass, are made of opaque materials, and are therefore unsuitable for use on glass. The solution is to use dual-panel glass – inserting an airspace between two glass panels dramatically reduces conductivity, making it ideal for window installation. This airspace can then be enhanced with an inert gas blend like argon or krypton. Layers of low emissivity (Low-E) coating can also be added to block another heat source: sunlight, or more specifically, invisible infrared rays.
Renewal by Andersen Glass Packages
Renewal by Andersen knows the importance of dual-panel glass, so we developed our own line of glass packages that cover all the bases when it comes to energy-efficient windows.
1. High Performance™ Low-E4® glass – Our standard glass package is up to 45% more energy efficient in winter and up to 56% energy efficient in summer, compared to other brands of dual-panel glass. It also blocks up to 84% of harmful UV rays, helping you keep your fabrics and furniture from premature fading.
2. High-Performance Low-E4 SmartSun™ glass – Our most energy-efficient glass option is up to 47% more energy efficient in winter and 70% more energy efficient in summer. It also blocks up to 95% of UV rays. You can enjoy as much sunlight under a Renewal by Andersen bay window without worrying about the heat from prolonged exposure to sunlight.
